BAPEN 2024 Satellite Symposium Recording
The symposium, led by Dr Chris Mountford, included Katie Bell (both Newcastle), Sharn Day (Hull) and Dr Simon Gabe (St Mark's) and was entitled "Adding value to your Intestinal Rehabilitation Service through the use of Revestive▼ (teduglutide)".
The key takeaways from the event were:
- Sharn Day outlined how the use of Revestive aligns with NHS policy to help maximise the best use of the available limited compounding capacity by supporting the use of Multi-Chamber Bags (MCBs) or a hybrid approach, allowing prioritisation of compounded PN for SBS-IF patients requiring individualised nutrition.
- Dr Simon Gabe described the "Human Journey" project at St Mark's in which ethnographic research led to the creation of SBS-IF "patient personas" that focus on understanding patient needs.
- Katie Bell highlighted the value of Revestive by describing the journey of a patient who received the treatment, showcasing how the results align with NHS policy and the patient personas outlined by Dr. Gabe.
